Lefty's Weekly Top Ten (9/27/06)

Time again for the Top Ten:

1. Lost Season 1 DVDs

I just wrapped up the first season last night, and tonight I dive into season 2. I've been watching this fast and furious. I'm excited to get into season 2 which I haven't seen any episodes of.

2. 52 (DC Comics)

I've been re-reading issues 1-20 this past week, and have really enjoyed it. I wish I could have unravelled any of the mysteries, but I did the whole Black Adam and the Marvel family a bit more on this read through.

3. The Office (NBC)

The funniest show (left) on television returns! I missed the first episodes so I downloaded it on iTunes. I got a lot of strange looks in the coffee shop at work as I watched this during lunch. Looking forward to an amazing season.

4. Test Drive Unlimited (Xbox 360)

When I find time to play my Xbox 360, I almost always find myself playing this game. It is still a ton of fun to play, and sometimes very challenging.

5. The Black Crowes "Freak N Roll...Into the Fog"

Some bands a best seen or heard live. This album is the whole concert that was recently released on DVD. It's a kick-ass show that has found it's way constantly on my iPod while I working out at the gym. I get to see the band in a few weeks here in town. 2006 has been a pretty good year for me to catch them, I've seen them 3 times this year alone.

6. Studio 60 (NBC)

Yeah I know the show officially has a longer title, but this is the title I'm going with. I loved, LOVED the first episode, and I'll be sitting down with the second episode this weekend. It looks to be a fantastic show.

7. The Amazing Race 10 (CBS)

No favorite teams yet, although I'm almost embarrased to say I'm pulling for the coal-miner team....but it's too early to commit to a single team.

8. Smith (CBS)

I like "caper" shows, and this is one of the better ones (although I'm really looking forward to the show where they try to rip off Mick Jagger (which I heard has changed it's name). The first episode of Smith held me attention, and the cast looks great! I'd watch this simply for Ray Liotta and Virginia Madsen alone, but thankfully the series has some sharp writing.

9. The Gym

Every morning (except weekends) I rise at 4:30 AM and get myself to the gym. I work out for about 40 minutes in the morning, and then occasionally in the evening I'm back for another 1 1/2 hours. It's been a while since I last weighed myself, so this morning I did it on our home scale (which I often have doubts on its reliability) and I clocked in at 332, which means I've lost 6 lbs since a week and half ago, for a grand total of 56 lbs since January.

10. Scissor Sisters "Ta-Dah!"

So I couldn't wait until Friday to pick up the disc. It's very good, but before I heap praise on it, I need to hear it a few more times.

I FINALLY watched the first episode of Studio 60, and I have to say that I disagree with the complaints about Amanda Peet, that her character doesn't have enough "gravitas". I think a woman in that particular position might well operate in that fashion. But it'll be a while before I get to episode 2, at this rate, Columbus Day weekend.

Totally thought this week's episode of Studio 60 was even better than the pilot. Can't wait to see where it's going next.

Forgot to add Smith to our DVR, but am just happy to see Michael Madsen on any sort of screen.

And The Office is back. Big smile. I'm waiting for Netflix to bring me Season 2 of the British version, and I actually think watching it is making me enjoy ours even more. I haven't looked this forward to Thursday nights in a very long time.

Ah the British version is quite good. It amazes me just how much they fit into just a handful of episodes. And I love the Faces song they use for the opening title.

I happen to like the US version more, just because its an environment that more familiar to me...but that BBC series is great in its own right.
