This N' That
With Van Halen, The Police, Crowded House, Smashing Pumpkins, and (at least for one show) Rage Against the Machine reuniting I can help but think of ex-bass players, drummers, and especially synth players waiting for their cell phones to ring to get the band back together. Now is the time for let bygones be bygones and get T'Pau back together....um to play their one hit at your local wedding or county fair! C'mon Michael Chetwood needs some money for the outdoor deck!
I've wanted to ask Mike Sterling this question for two weeks now. I picked up the really lame Civil War: The Return and a page has fallen out. Now that it's a HOT HOT HOT issue, sure to be a wise investment despite not having a tin-plated glow-in-the-dark cover, is there a safe way to reinsert the loose page into the book and restaple? Does Mr. Overstreet frown upon such things?
After listening to the fantastic The Band tribute album, Endless Highway, I have decided that the harmonica needs to go on moratorium. Don't get me wrong, I like a little bit of harmonica, but the sounds of the 'mouth harp' sometimes drives me batty, especially when that solo spot would sound much better on a Les Paul or a Gibson. I also wonder if Blues Traveler has ever did a song that didn't have the obligatory harmonica solo in it.
How do you kill any momentum for your career? Let's just ask Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Let's see, your first album was waaay cool, and interesting, so on the next album let's have the opening song be so distorted the listeners will think that their CD was bad, and then feel sick hearing said distortion like some bad South Park episode. Mission Accomplished CYHSY.
Last night as I was finishing off Maus (probably a poor choice of words when describing a Holocaust graphic novel), I put on the Derek Trucks Band DVD (now available in stores!). Man I almost wept. I miss seeing the guys live....like to the point of booking a plane ticket to catch them a few times this summer. They are without a doubt one of my favorite bands to see live.
I've been reading the Dark Knight Returns for the umpteenth time, getting reading to speak about it on Thursday. Did Frank Miller make the mutant leader look like an "old Elvis" version of the X-Men's Cyclops on purpose? If so, wise choice. Also, remember it was last year at this time the comic blogosphere as all up in arms over Miller's next project, Batman vs. Terrorists? What happened to that project?
I've been thinking of picking up back issues of the Milestone/DC line of books. Any recommendations?
Anyone want to redesign or spiffy up my blog? I'd love to have a photo-header and maybe use some flashier colors. Sadly I haven't the mad skillz (as the kids like to say) to do such things.
Speaking of which, I'm thinking of taking some computer classes at my local community college. What classes should I take in order to get learn how to run my server, manage my blog, learn about all things css, xml, php, sql, and other three letter programs that will one day run the world...speaking of which HAL from 2001 was only three letters? Coincidence?
