Lefty's Playbook for Friday, September 14th

So yesterday felt like a day that simply vanished from me. I had plans for the next installment of this week's list, but work just ate up all my time. So be prepared for a few posts from me today, including Friday's 3 Questions which my team of assistants are secretly preparing using ancient magic and assembled the questions by playing backmasked copies of Anne Murray and Christopher Cross.

A word to the wise, Alice in Chains is still surprisingly good as a live act, even if the new singer looks like he's won a contest to be in the band. Enough with the first pumping already, we get it. You are the man in the box...but Jerry Cantrell still signs your checks.

Also I learned I'm a terrible pacifist, because during the Alice in Chains/Velvet Revolver show, I felt compelled to drive elbows into oncoming moshers who threaten harm on my person (and I DO have the bruisers to prove it), and I kept trying to steal people's shows if they tried to crowd surf on top of my head.

I don't expect the same experience this weekend when I see a Smiths cover band with my musical guru Steve Portela, although in spirit of the night he and I will quit our friendship and I will go on to have a lucrative career trying to recast myself as the musical James Dean.

More to come....
(oh and go out and buy/read Booster Gold, one of my favorite DC books right now)

For some reason...the Smiths seem all to appropriate a band to have a cover band. Of course, i love the Smiths, so I don' mean that to disparage them.
