Fragments

I just don't feel the energy to post anything substantial, so let me just add these tidbits:

+ Man everyday life has gotten more and more expensive. Our grocery bill is really starting to creep upwards. Paired with the cost of gas, the cost of heating & cooling, we are really starting to feel the pinch.

+ Two new to me eMusic finds: Aesop Rock "None Shall Pass" and The Donnas (yes I know they've been around for a while) new album "Bitchin'" are getting lots of play on my iPod. Aesop Rock is very good hip-hop...and The Donnas are still the Donnas, but on their new album the AC/DC-early Sabbath mood is amped up a bit.

+ I am enjoying Torchwood. I've watched the first two episodes and this weekend will be diving in yet again.

+ Please tell Bionic Woman gets better, because after the first two episodes I'm not sure I want to invest my time in it.

+ Me and Mrs. L are headed up to San Francisco this Thursday and Friday for Doctor visits for my wife. It is our first time boarding our Doxidor since our Boston Terrier passed away, and I have to say I'm surprised I am still filled with sadness of her passing. I wonder if our Doxidor will feel loneliness because she's always shared her kennel with our Boston.

+ Our visit to S.F. won't be totally filled with Doctor visits. Thursday we have two appointments one in the morning and one in the late afternoon, which blows that day for us, but Friday we are having lunch with Nelson & Natalie, the two hosts of our favorite podcast, Achievement Junkie. We are looking forward to it. I also need to contact our friends the Taylors to see if we can sneak in an early dinner/hangout before we head back down to Fresno. Later this month I am seeing Bruce Springsteen with Mr. Taylor, so I will have a chance to hang with his growing family (and their recently born twins), but my wife would love to chance to see the kids.

+ I want Roger Green to dress up as Cornel West for Halloween...and post a pic on his blog.

+ When I don't post as much as I should, can I call it "pulling an Eddie Mitchell?"

+ I need to record another Lefty Side of the Dial, but now it's been so long, I am intimidated about doing another one. Perhaps I'll be inspired and record something when I am up in San Francisco.

+ I finally beat Bioshock this weekend. An awesome game, but I kept thinking of my friend Adam Wall who would really dig it, based on his worldview/belief system. Quite possibly my favorite game of the year....but I only beat it on Easy. I suck. The game is hard in places.

+ Monday was Harvey Pekar's birthday. I plan on reading The Quitter on the ride up to San Francisco.

+ I should loathe Big Bang Theory more, but I do manage to watch each episode and come away pleased....but it does slightly gets under my nerves because it is so sitcom-y with the canned laugh-tracks and the standard set-up jokes. It's an enigma as to why I enjoy it.

Yeah, I've heard of this Bioshock game. Alas, no 360 on my horizon. Just my clunky old PSII and my Wii.

The one thing I like about Big Bang Theory is that they don't have a nerd competition between the two main nerds for the girl. One wants her, while the other seems to have no real interest in romance at all. I am not sure if I am annoyed by his speech pattern yet-as it feels like the stereotype of how the producers THINK a geek or nerd might speak. I keep slamming the show-but I have watched it each week now. And the theme song is kind of catchy though.

I have BioShock on the shelf until I get tired of Halo 3. I doubt that will happen anytime soon. I never had Xbox Live for Halo or Halo 2, so I am rocking out on the multi player right now. LOVE IT!!!

Definitely pulling an Eddie Mitchell.

Cornel West?! Don't have the hair.

You can say that, but you'd owe me royalties every time you do!
