Lefty's Friday Three Questions for April 4th

Yay! It's Friday and the weather is very nice. Before I get my weekend started, it's time to play Three Questions:

1. Have you ever served public office? If not, have you ever thought about running for office of some kind?

2. Which actor or actress made the best movie President?

3. Do you think John McCain is too old to be President? Do you feel that Obama is too young?

Comments

1. No, but I at one time thought about running for City council.

2. President Merkin Muffley as played by Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove

3. Everytime I see McCain on TV I find myself saying that he looks too old. I think his time should have been 8 years ago personally. I don't think Obama is too young. For me his perceived youthfulness works to his advantage.

1) No, I never served public office (although I ran twice for a non-profit board seat - and lost - before winning a third time). Some people suggested I run for state senate in Missouri (and I've considered a political run), but I'm not sure I can stand public scrutiny well.

2) Gary Sinise as Harry Truman in TRUMAN. (Yes, techically it's cable, but still...)

3) You know, I don't think McCain's too old, especially when you consider that other presidents (like, um, Reagan) were elected close to (if not older than) McCain's age.

And Obama's not too young - in fact, I think that's why he's appealing to a broad coalition of people.

Gordon I can see it now:

"Mr. Dymoski, what's your position on Spoiler? Should Batman have her Robin costume on display in the Batcave?"

1. Never! I can't even govern my softball team's lineup.

2. Nicholson in Mars Attacks if only for the "two out of three ain't bad" line. Maybe Michael Douglas because Annette Benning looks incredible the "next morning" in his shirt. Do I love me some political movies or what?

3. Presidents seem to age at a rate quicker than normal so I figure McCain will look 90 in four years and 122 in eight. Obama will look McCain's age in eight and wear Dr. Huxtable sweaters and Hillary will look something like Nancy Reagan circa 1985. Hell, the Olson twins are too old to be President.

1. No, though I considered, and was in fact urged to run for library board. Like Gordon, I don't think I - or indeed most people - can bear the public scritiny.

2. Michael Douglas, though Sinese was very good.

3. Obama's older than Teddy R. and JFK, so no, g=he's not too young. McCain will be older than Reagan when he started, so I think it's a legit question. Maybe. But he's never said he's running for a second term, and in fact suggested - when asked if he were fit enough for eight years said (essentially), "I'm running for four, and then we'll re-evaluate."

first of all, chris, let me remind you that you served in office in college.

1. Outside of student govt I haven't. I wouldn't mind being on city council.
2.not too sure on that one.
3. Mccain's not too old. Obama's not too young. But Hillary is too hillary.
